BEST NEW PODCAST
STATISTICS
Hello Listener!
If you're Long-Time Listener, welcome back! Be at home! Help yourself to some statistics! There's plenty to go around.
If you're Short-Time Listener, you might be curious. "What is this?" "What do the charts mean?" "Why is it so yellow?" These are real questions that you are currently asking yourself.
And, frankly, there's not a great answer for any of them. That said, we'll give it a shot.
On each episode on Best New Podcast we choose some upcoming albums we think will be reviewed by Pitchfork dot com (the music website) and, prior to release, we guesstimate and pontificate as to what the review score will be.
That's right. Your hosts, of which there are three (Mack, Mike, and Duffy) crunch the numbers, scrunch the data, and brunch the press releases so you don't have to! On completion, we each then make a guess as to the exact score that new release will receive. Whosoever is closest is awarded points by our powerful database, Zordon (no relation). Those points accumulate through the course the season. (The season usually just goes from January to December, but some of the earlier seasons were weird and different. But hey, we were weird and different.) At season's end he who has the most points wins the regular season, AND will get to choose at which place they would like to pick in our end-of-year best albums draft, which is basically the Super Bowl of Pitchfork-related podcasts. It's true. Ask any of them.
So, there you have it! Here we have charts and numbers from our current season, as well as all our past seasons and drafts! Eat the data! Drink the points! Snack on statistics! And should you want, feel free to reach out to us via our contact page. We love you, we treasure you, and we think you're worth it.
